Dr. Robert McCarthy, M.D.

Making life manageable begins with you as an individual.

"I start by evaluating my patient's health to get a better picture of physical factors that may be creating issues," says Dr. Robert McCarthy. Through the entire process, Dr. McCarthy's goal is to treat your whole person with an appropriate balance of psychotherapy and medication. This personalized combination of methods is used to treat mood disorders, anxiety disorders, ADD/ADHD, adjustment disorders, addictions, schizophrenia, eating disorders, and personality disorders—the things that may have made your life unmanageable.

Board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Permanent License Physician and Surgeon of Illinois, and a member of the board of the American Board of Medical Specialties, Dr. Robert McCarthy received his psychiatry training at Northwestern University Medical School. He received a certificate from the Chicago Institute of Psychoanalysis for the Adult Psychotherapy Program and is currently a first year candidate at the Institute in the Psychoanalytic Education Program to become a psychoanalyst. He is also a member of the American Psychiatric Association.
